Friday Quick Hitters
SATURDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE:
Looks like someone missed my “No Sock Friday’s” memo:
Indianapolis, IN
July 12, 2008
Bous Theory News Team- In an effort to protest the Bous Theory No Sock Friday process, a local man, shown above, was sighted sporting Teva’s and some red/gray socks not seen since the 70s. With this new look coming into effect over the weekend combined with the controversy of the fraudulant Bobby Womack photo below, it is apparent that No Sock Friday’s are currently one of the hottest issues in the city. On a related note, scientists are currently researching to see if the photo above is actually a man who was frozen in time for the past 30 years.

There’s an interesting development out of the Northwest side of Indy…In between trips to the Polliwog, Super Reader Bobby Womack has also been busy snapping some award winning photos. There was actually a “No Sock Monday” sighting in an office earlier this week, and Womack was all over it.
When “No Sock Friday’s” start spilling into Monday’s, you know it’s a big deal. It’s also spreading. As always send any photos my way, chad_bouslog@wrtv.com
Now, for my toughest decision of the day. What to get from the vending machine? I’ll be back with some meaningful commentary in a bit.

Top 5 New Era Must Gets
Super reader, Freddie P. Jr. posed a question on Monday in which I felt the Quick Hitter blog was the appropriate time to come up with some sort of answer. He asked what MLB team hat I would get if approaching a Hat World. The New Era’s are simply the fitted hats that the actual players wear. I’ve been a big fan of them since I bought my first ever New Era on a sixth grade trip to Washington D.C. I purchased a navy blue Milwaukee Brewers hat that I thought was the sickest thing ever. Looking back to the fact that I did rock that in sixth grade, it DEFINITELY was the sickest thing ever.
After the Brewers, I purchased an unbelievably terrible Mariners hat. It was Griffey Jr’s peak time there, and teal was a cool color. Yes, I rolled with a teal Mariners hat. It’s also probably the worst New Era ever purchased personally. Coming up big with the birthday card money, I went out and purchased an Astros (when they got their new star logo) and a basic Cleveland Indians taking the collection to 4.
Months (or maybe a couple of years) later my head size seemed to double and those four hats were no longer feasible in the rotation. Freshman year of college, I bought the all red Cincinnati Reds hat that will probably go down as the all-time favorite owned New Era’s. That thing went through many battles and was probably worn for the inception of the Bous Theory.
Rockin’ the Reds New Era with Tark the Shark.
After I had to retire the Reds hat due to Enlarged Head Syndrome, I moved on to a black Oakland A’s hat that easily is #2 on my all time favorite list (it may actually push the Reds for #1). Speeding this endless blog up, I currently own a red Anaheim Angels, navy blue New York Yankees (Classic), navy blue Minnesota Twins, and a recently purchased black Colorado Rockies. Again, the question posed before this long winded answer, was what hat would I buy now. WIthout further adieu, here’s my top 5 if I were heading to the store today.
5.
(This is risky. Kind of like drafting a guy with a shaky past in the first round. Could be Randy Moss. Could also be a Lawrence Phillips.)
4.
(This one is growing on me, and may move up if the rankings get released again).
3.
(Going back to the roots of The Bous Theory. The best all-red hat around)
2.
(What’s that Cinderella song? Don’t Know What You Got Til It’s Gone?)
1.
(The classic Atlanta Braves hat. For some reason still unknown to myself, I have never owned this hat. On the New Era website, they had about 148 Braves hats, but you’d have to go with the classic blue with the red bill. Straight up Menace!)
This was Bous Theory blog #99, so next week we’ll be having a 100th blog party all week long. If you have any ideas, testimonials, photos, reasons this blog changed your life, or New Era donation money, please send them my way.
Enjoy your weekend, and get your rest for #100 next week.
