Republicans shocked by Mitch Daniels’ announcement of faithfulness
As much as I usually find myself laughing when I read a “Mitch Daniels for President” piece, this one had me chuckling a bit more than usual:
At a tearful press conference, Indiana’s Republican governor Mitch Daniels admitted that he has not been unfaithful to his wife, potentially scuppering his hopes of a run at the presidency in 2012. With a promising career in tatters, Daniels begged forgiveness of his family and party.“I take strength from God, my daughters and my loving wife,” Daniels said. “And I hope my fellow Republicans can forgive me for this shameful episode of not doing anything to be ashamed of.”
The Republican party, long a bastion for white men that privately indulge in extra-marital affairs, prescription drug abuse, racism and approaches to underage boys while preaching strong family values, has been rocked by the revelations of a lack of revelations.
In all honesty, one does have to wonder if Daniels is winning a war of scandal-filled attrition for the GOP nomination in 2012.

Thomas- those who live in glass houses should not cast stones. Remember:
Bill Clinton (affair)
Sen. Robert Byrd (former Klan member)
Rep. Patrick Kennedy (Drugs, Alcohol, Cap Hill car crash, etc.)
Rep. Gerry Studds (underage boys)
Or are you just admitting that the Democrat party does not defend and advocate for family values?
Big Brother:
I believe the the crux of the piece is pointing out hypocrisy. Unlike Republicans, Democrats don’t spend most of their time preaching about the “evils” of modern culture and villifying others, and then go ahead and engage in those “evils” in their private life.
Bravo Big Brother!
You forgot one, though: Teddy Kennedy, the “lion” of the Senate, driving Mary Jo Kopechne to her death (allegedly), and then promptly leaving the scene never reporting the incident until his car and her body were found. What a lion.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Sanford is a moron and should step down for abandoning his post to go “hiking” as the kids say these days. But if dems are looking to jump on this, they should just calm down. As you showed, they have their own idiots to deal with.
