Serving you
Happy Wednesday, everyone! I have a question for all of you. If you could change anything about Good Morning Indiana, what would it be? Do you have any suggestions on how we could make our newscast better?
We’re constantly trying to find ways to make our show more informative and enjoyable for viewers. Sometimes, however, it’s hard to critique yourself. Sometimes we’re too hard on ourselves. Other times we think we couldn’t possibly be doing anything wrong.
We occassionally have news consultants who come into the station and offer suggestions for our newscasts. They might suggest changes to our set or even changes in the anchors’ wardrobe. Other times they’ll make suggestions on what stories we should do and how often we should cover weather and traffic. And still, some consultants love interview segments in morning shows. Other consultants think it’s best to have more news and less fun. At any rate, as a loyal viewer, I would be so interested to hear what you have to say. After all, we’re here to serve you and the customer is often right.

Hmm, if I were GM and wanted to make GMI more appealing to viewers, I would have something that I would call “Morning Moment”. Basically, it’ll be you guys talking about whatever is on your mind. I also wouldn’t mind having a link like on Facebook or YouTube account. (MySpace really isn’t that safe anymore and a lot of people are deleting their accounts because of that safety.)
Maybe have traffic and weather on the sixes (you probably might already do that, but I haven’t been catching on plus I’m still waking up)
You guys seem like a family whenever I watch it. All of the other stations don’t have that which makes watching that station’s news less. (I’m not going to name any names) And not to mention, you, Todd and Trisha have blogs that let us, the viewer into your personal lives. It makes that connection between anchor and viewer improve more and that you get trust from us.
From your loyal viewer,
Renee
P.S.- The Starbucks training went well last night (even though I missed out on Idol, darn) and I know a lot of people (including the 6 regulars: Paul, Jack, Ray, Renee etc.)are ready for their Starbucks grind!
Grace - I like the morning news program the way it is now. I watch it every day I can or listen to it on the radio as I go to work. You do a fine job as does your co-anchor when interviewing guests. I think I’d like to see you do a feature story now and then. Your wardrobe is great.
I like how often you do weather and traffic, and I love the chemistry, cameraderie, and fun among you, Dan, Tom, and Paul. I hope the consultants never take any of that away. I like how GMI is good at bringing me information useful to me as I start my day. I wish for more straight news, because many days GMI is the only news I get. I’m not a big fan of entertainment news and could do without it. Moreover, I would be thrilled never to hear the word Britney on GMI ever again. (Would you be thrilled never to have to say it again?)
Dear Grace
I can’t think of any changes you should make. I enjoy your show every morning and wish I could see you on the weekends too. Paul and Tom are just nuts. I feel for YOU though because you have to keep all of those men in line. Keep up the good work and may God Bless.
Hi Grace,
We think Good Morning Indiana is the best! The entire staff does a tremendous and very professional job of delivering the news, weather, sports, and traffic. We do enjoy the guest segments, especially Abdul-Hakim Shabazz, he has such a wonderful insight on the current topics concerning Indiana. The only suggestion we can think of for improvement would be to present more positive stories about the young people in Indiana. We have many, many wonderful boys and girls and they deserve more attention, after all, they are our future.
Keep up the good work everyone!!

I am looking for the website you talked about this morning about wine country trips, etc.
Can not find the link. Can you help me Grace.
Thank You
Grace I love the way Good morning Indiana is formated. The only thing that I would change is, I would like to see a slideshow of Rtv6 behind the scenes and would also love to see some more news clips on youtube. Great job Wrtv6
Grace,
I love the anchors on the show. Julie does a nice job with reports when most people are still sleeping. But your news department needs to do more real news. Anyone can report on the crime-of-the-day or what’s happening at the City-County building or Capitol. It looks like most of the stories on WRTV News are done in a few hours then you’re on to the next. I’m sure you have to do that for many of them, but how about letting a reporter spend a few days to check out a story and do some real research? Do you have any reporters there that have enough pride to work an occasional evening or weekend to do some digging? I think I saw that you are behind 8 and 13 in the ratings. If you did some interesting stories maybe more people would watch 6. I flip around a lot. Sometimes I find a story that looks like it took extra work. Those are usually on 8 or 13 or 59. Sometimes Raphael Sanchez does something good, but I bet he has a giant staff of helpers. I know you have kids and work crazy hours, but how about once a month surprising us with a story like they do on 20/20 or 60 minutes, only shorter. They could play it on all the news times and people that don’t see you in the morning would get to see you like you were a reporter. That might make some of your reporters decide to do some harder work too. Sorry if it’s none of my business, but you might want to at least try it. If you do, I’ll send your boss a note to give you a raise. I might even decide to buy some commercials for my company to play during your news. Could you get me a discount for making a suggestion? Thanks for this place to write and keep smiling!
