Thanks!
Happy Thursday, everyone! I’d like to thank all of you who responded to yesterday’s blog. I sincerely appreciate your kind comments and suggestions. I’m humbled.
It’s clear that some people really rely on the morning news to get their information for the day, because they don’t get a chance to watch the news in the evenings. At the same time, there are viewers who enjoy some lighter, fun stories and interviews. It’s tricky to find just the right balance. I must admit I’d be in anchor heaven if I never had to read a Britney Spears story again. I think she’s a troubled young lady and we’d do everyone a favor (including Spears) if the limelight would stop shining on her. I think she serves as yet another example that money and fame don’t buy peace and happiness. Instead of getting visits for Dr. Phil and others, perhaps Ms. Spears should visit with a minister, priest, rabbi or other religious leader. I have found that people who are at peace with a Higher Power are the ones who are truly rich and at peace with themselves and the world. Oh, well. That’s just my opinion. And with that, I’d be happy not to discuss Ms. Spears again.
I’m glad that many of you enjoy the blog and like getting to know the people who bring you the news. I must admit that when my boss first told me he wanted me to write a blog, I thought… well… o-k. I’m not sure if people will be interested in anything I have to say, but I’ll give it a shot. I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I always have this fear that when I talk about my kids, people secretly roll their eyes and think…”My goodness. You’d think Grace is the only woman to ever have a child.” Again, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by everyone’s reaction to stories about my kids and my family.
My producers are also very appreciative of your support. You don’t see them, but Greg, Judy and the rest of the crew work very hard and rarely get any credit when things go well. So, kudos to those behind the scenes… and thanks to all of you in front of the television who watch us everyday. We appreciate you!!

I’m sure it is difficult to keep the right balance. I’m sure that if you all programmed GMI to appeal specifically to me, as much as I would enjoy it, your ratings would tank! Guess that’s why it’s called broadcasting!
You’re right, being at peace with the Higher Power is the key to personal peace. I think that’s what enabled Paul the Apostle to say to the Philippians, “…I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.” (4:11)
Ain’t that the truth?!?!?! Here’s my take on Ms. Spears. I don’t think all of the crazy things that she does should be the top story on the evening news. Wasn’t shows like Entertainment Tonight or Extra intended for stories like her to be shown. It feels awkward when I see Charles Gibson talk about Britney, or Paris Hilton or even Amy Winehouse.
I really do love the GMI Blogs!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Grace! I do miss watching you guys of a morning! I am retired now, for 3 months. I have my computer now, & will be checking WRTV6 home page every day. I am not getting up early in the morning any more (unless I just have to)so I don’t see you then, but I always watch the noon news, & see you & Paul then. I will be checking your blog & reading up on what you guys are doing! I love to hear about your kids & hubby, I feel like a personal friend! I feel very close to God myself, & am active in my church (Baptist)so I relate to you a lot! I think if a lot more people would have The Lord in their life, maybe there would not be so many bad & awful things happening in Indianapolis & the world!
I am enjoying retirement a lot, I worked for the City of Indy for 34 years, in DPW, & I don’t miss work a bit! I am keeping close watch on what is going at the City tho. Lots of changes! Wow! Longtime, Loyal, WRTV6 Listener, Pam Colvin
