Reality Check
I’m curious. How many of you watch The Bachelorette? Since it is an ABC show and I’m a loyal ABC/WRTV employee, let me say it is a show with a lot of appeal and it does well in the ratings across the country. For that, I am thankful.
Dan and Paul had a good time laughing at the concept of The Bachelorette during this morning’s show. As some of you know, Deanna the Bachelorette made her choice and accepted Jesse’s wedding proposal during last night’s episode.
I interviewed Deanna last week via satellite. I know she wasn’t supposed to reveal her choice, but I thought her body language and her tone spoke volumes. She really perked up when she talked about Jesse. She seemed to have a glow about her. I told my producer that Deanna had probably chosen Jesse. I told Deanna that a lot of people don’t believe these reality show relationships will last. Deanna says she is really in love and does plan to marry Jesse. I wish them the best.
I must admit, however, that it’s a little hard to believe. You start with all of these guys and after several dates, in front of cameras no less, you’re suddenly madly in love with one of them. It just doesn’t seem likely. After all, let’s not forget that after countless Bachelors and Bachelorettes, only Trista is still married to her choice. (She and her husband even had a child recently.)
All I can say is I would have hated having a camera around when I was on the dating scene. My husband and I went through enough challenges when we were out on dates. People would often come up to us during dinner, at the mall or at the movie theater and want to chat with me about the news. I felt bad for Joe, but since he’s in the business too, he took it in stride.
Once the cameras are off of them, I sincerely hope Deanna and Jesse really like spending time with one another. Living life in a constant spotlight might be fun for awhile, but eventually reality has to kick in.

There is no way on earth I’d watch The Bachelorette. I can say that, because I’m not an ABC/WRTV employee!
