Trust
Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week.
I started my day with some surprising news from an old friend. I tracked down a college friend of mine on Facebook. This morning he sent me a message and revealed some very personal information. In his message he told me that he had not shared his story with many people. My heart went out to my dear friend. I always feel humbled when friends share personal stories with me. Over the years, I’ve had friends and co-workers say… “I’m only telling you” or “this is for your ears only.” Many times in life you feel so much better when you can share a story (or two or three) with someone you feel you can trust. I always feel honored when people feel they can trust me with their trials and triumphs.
I believe we were all put on this planet for a purpose and we weren’t meant to make the journey alone. We are here to reach out and help others. Studies show that people are healthier when they have friends. Just think about how good you feel after a lively conversation (or a good cry) with a good buddy or a nice warm hug from someone you love. It can often give you that extra boost to face whatever comes your way.
I feel blessed in so many ways. I can honestly say I trust my co-workers. I know if I walk into the studio and share something with Dan, Paul or Tom it won’t end up on the internet. (I just have to do my part and make sure the microphone light is off.) When I get home, I can always look forward to hugs from my family. It’s comforting to know that I have their support and of course I love and support them too.
I’m also humbled by the viewers who trust us to deliver the news. People have many choices when it comes to how to start their day. For those who chose to start the day with us, I say thank you. I’m taking the next two days off to celebrate the Fourth of July with my family. I hope all of you have a safe and fabulous 4th. I trust all of you to continue watching GMI while I’m getting a little r and r.
