The Children’s Museum knows how to make everything fun—even teaching kids how to be active and eat right!  The Health House is a fairly new attraction at the museum (located on the top floor in the Scienceworks exhibit) that introduces kids to every aspect of living a healthy lifestyle … without making it seem like a lesson at school!  The organizers produced creative ways to show kids the best way to make healthy choices through games, colorful toys, and playful characters.  It was great seeing so many children having a blast in the Health House, because I knew they were walking away from the museum with more knowledge about how to take care of themselves as they grow older.

The Children’s Museum plans to keep the Health House as a permanent attraction—and I think that is a great idea!  It is important to show and teach kids how to live healthy and why it is beneficial to eat healthy, stay active, drink water, and get enough sleep!  It can be difficult to teach all these ideas to our children (although it is important to try!) because there are many other things like video games and junk food that might seem more appealing to them.  The Health House and the Children’s Museum can play a big role in helping us show our kids that living healthy is fun and good for you!

If you would like to attend more in-depth healthy learning events with your kids—the Children’s Museum has more programs throughout the year that you can participate in together.

Movement Play Group

Movement contributes to a child’s development and creates neural connections.  Movement actually builds the brain!  Crawl through the tunnel, join the activities and dance to the music.  An adult must attend with each child.
