If you are looking for some archery lessons, I think I’ve found the perfect guy. John Jester of Greenfield is currently teaching my 8 year old Spencer archery. We had our first lesson last week and Spencer seems to be picking it up quickly. Jester has been shooting for 25 years and is a Pro Staff Member for HARD CORE DECOYS . VanHook Big Ole Fish

I’ve been fishing many times at Raccoon Lake and caught a few striped bass, but never have I seen anything close in size to the striped bass that Jonathan VanHook caught on May 25th. VanHook “Hooked” a 39.08-pound striped bass from Raccoon Lake. The fish measured 42.25 inches long with a girth of 30 inches. VanHook was using bluegill as bait. Way to go Jonathon….It’s a new STATE RECORD!!!!

Padgett Gets The Gobbler

14 year old Deven Padgett harvested this nice turkey during Youth Turkey Season. The turkey weighed 23lbs, had 25mm spurs, and a 10 inch beard. Way to go Devin.

Buck Gets Turkey!! Youth Turkey Hunt 2010

It took 4.5 hours but Buck Christy did it again and harvested this 22 lbs, 20mm spurs, and 9 inch beard turkey. Kivan Hutcheson was Buck’s guide and host for the weekend.

It is that time of the year when we head out in the woods around Indiana looking for those tasty mushrooms. My dad found 11 mushrooms last week. I thought some of you might enjoy this video from youtube.

Hunter “Big Buck”

This “Big Buck” was harvested by 10 year old Hunter Harrington from Martinsville. Hunter used a muzzle loader to take the 10 pointer. Hunter’s mom says he’s been hunting since he was 6 years old. Way to go Hunter!!!

NWTF “Greenfield” March 13th 2010

This weekend is the Brandywine Creek Chapter’s NWTF 9th annual banquet. The doors open at 4:30 pm and dinner is served at 6:00 pm. Smokin’ Joes of Markleville is the caterer.

It should be a great evening of fun, while helping raise money for wild turkey and your hunting heritage.

CROSSBOW HUNTING ANYONE?

While hanging out at the 2010 Indiana Deer, Turkey, & Waterfowl Expo I noticed one product that is being pushed hard is the CROSSBOW. Crossbow Hunting is still kind of new for Hoosier Hunters unless you had a permit. Currently, you can crossbow hunt for deer in the late archery season.

Experts say that crossbow hunting has been slow to spread across the country, but is really taking off now. According to one salesman I spoke with you can get a good crossbow for $400-800.00. I tested a crossbow at the Expo and it was really accurate from about 20 ft. It will be interesting to see if the CROSSBOW becomes as popular as the MUZZLELOADER in Indiana???
