John Bunner sent in this picture of a nice “Smallie”. Bunner caught the fish north of Indy on the river. The Smallmouth Bass was 21 inches long and Bunner estimates it is between 12 and 15 years old. John Bunner is a boardmember for the Indiana Smallmouth Alliance.

This past week my Granny, Marjorie Siddons, passed away. She was 87 years old. I spent Thursday and Friday in Greencastle with friends and family. At the funeral home there were lots of pictures celebrating Granny’s life. The picture above is from 1997 and was one displayed. She used to fish all the time. She loved fishing. The other thing that was really cool is everytime myself, my brothers, or other family members got a deer or whatever, it was a tradition to take it to Granny’s house to let her take our picture. Most of the pictures I have of my deer until the last several years were from her.
I know Granny will enjoy fishing in Heaven and she will watch over us when we’re hunting. Whenever I catch the ”Big One” or get the “Big Buck” I will always remember Granny.

I thought you all might enjoy this email with pictures I received from Mike Glaze of Fillmore, Indiana. I have known Mike for all my life and he comes from a family of avid outdoorsman.
Good morning Shea. I spent the week of May 19th in the Boundary waters
on a solo canoe trip. It’s a beautiful place. The fishing was slow for
me, I only took artificial bait in. People using minnows where catching
nice walleye and lake trout. The water temperature was 47 degrees, ice
has been off for almost three weeks. Water levels are high, due to a lot
of fall rain and more than normal snow fall this past winter. Ely,
Minnesota is a great place to visit if you are into fishing, camping,
and hiking. The lakes I was on this year were all bordered by Canada. I
had to stay on the south side of the lakes and camp on south shores. I
didn’t get a permit to be in Quetico Park. We usually go
in September, fishing is pretty good then. I will be going back this
September with son-in-law, Brice Hill, and a couple of guys from
Lonestar. Have a good day.
Mike
Way to go Mike. Sounds like a pretty cool trip.
