Rain, Rain, Go Away…

rain3.jpgMore rain is in the forecast!

A warm front across western Kentucky will lift north across central Indiana tonight resulting in likely showers and thunderstorms.

Brief periods of heavy rain, deadly cloud to ground lightning and gusty winds are possible with any of these storms.

A cold front will sweep across the state on Tuesday bringing a chance of rain showers to central Indiana.

On Wednesday high pressure will build in behind Tuesday’s front providing a break in the showery conditions.

The break will be short lived as a warm front moves north into the state by Wednesday night into Thursday bringing another round of showers and possibly some thunderstorms on Thursday.

Spring Snow…

snowflake6.jpg

While we have rain in Central Indiana, spring snow is likely overnight in northern portions of the state.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect overnight for three to six inches of snow. Some cities included in the Advisory are South Bend, Plymouth, Warsaw, Elkhart, Kendallville and Angola.

South of the Advisory, rain may change to sleet and snow, but no accumulation is expected.

Our warmest temperature this month has been 67 degrees. Last year we managed to reach 80 degrees or more during the month of March three times!

How is your meteorological memory? Last summer the high temperature in Indianapolis reached 90 degrees or more 37 times. Actually, the summer heat extended into fall.

Our first 90 degree day occurred on June 7th. Our last 90 degree day was recorded on October 8th.

The temperature peaked at 96 degrees in both August and September.
