Clouds with Character…

cumulus.jpg

Some of my favorite clouds are floating through the state today. In my opinion, cumulus clouds have the greatest curb appeal. The cloud bases today are around 4,000 feet.

You may feel differently. Perhaps you like cirrus clouds. Cirrus clouds are made of ice crystals and sometimes produce a ring around the sun or moon. Stratus clouds are another option. They are layered clouds, grayish in color, often covering the entire sky. Boring!

Now back to my favorite. Cumulus clouds have character! They look like cotton balls. Cumulus clouds that show only slight vertical development are fair-weather clouds.

They are technically called cumulus humilis. You’ve heard of humidity in the air. Cumulus clouds represent humility in the air.
