Are you ready for some snow? The last big snowfall across Central Indiana was on January 7th when the Indianapolis International Airport received 4.1″.
Well, it’s time for round 2! A large storm system is expected to move across the Midwest Friday into Saturday. This storm has the potential to bring some moderate accumulating snowfall to the state, along with areas of rain or freezing rain.
Right now, indications are that snowfall accumulations will be in the range of 3-6″ with higher amounts possible. Only light ice accumulations due to freezing rain are anticipated. Remember, there are many uncertainties as the timing and track of this system could change. Stay tuned to WRTV 6 for the latest…
The Colts are Super Bowl Bound! I don’t know about you, but I was glued to the game. During the first half, I was a little nervous, but by the second half, the Colts dominated. Now, we’re heading to Miami to take on the Saints.
I have to say, I was very excited to see that the Saints beat the Vikings. I lived in New Orleans for 3 years and worked for the Fox affiliate. I covered the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. As you all know, the aftermath of Katrina was not pretty and over 15oo people lost their lives. Seeing the Saints go to the Super Bowl is pretty cool. The city deserves this.
With that being said, I will be rooting for the Colts to win!
Okay, now to our weather. Temperatures will be colder this week and snow will be in our forecast. We’re already seeing some light snow showers and snow chances are expected to continue through the overnight hours. Storm total snowfall by Tuesday morning should be 1″ or less, with possibly a bit more in northern spots like Lafayette or Muncie.
NFL Playoffs begin tomorrow and our beloved Colts will take the field in primetime with the game starting at 8:15pm. That means many of you will be out tailgating before the game. I, honestly, couldn’t have a better forecast for you in January. Temps on Saturday will be in the lower to mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies. So, while it may be gray at times, it will also be mild. So, here’s the specific forecast:
2pm: Mostly Cloudy…42.
5pm: Mostly Cloudy…44.
8pm: Mostly Cloudy…38.
11pm: Mostly Cloudy…34.
Go Colts!
Now, some of you may be watching the early matchup between the Saints and Cardinals. This game starts at 4:30pm. Expect scattered showers with highs in the upper 50s in New Orleans, not that it really matters as they will be playing in the Superdome. I’ll personally be rooting for the Saints, as I used to live in New Orleans before I moved to Indy.
High pressure over the southeastern U.S. will keep us in a mild southwest flow today. This is already bringing in some high, cirrus clouds across the state. Highs will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s and clouds will continue to increase during the day. Tonight expect cloudy skies as a very weak cold front moves through. There is a chance of drizzle or freezing drizzle late tonight as low temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
The warm up will continue in to the weekend. Highs will remain in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Clouds will be decreasing throughout the day making way for plenty of sunshine. Now, the sunshine will stick around for most of the week as a high pressure system builds across the Midwest.
If that wasn’t good enough, temperatures will also be warming up. Highs today will top out in the upper 20s and by Wednesday we’ll be in the mid 30s. Highs toward the end of the week will warm in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Enjoy the quiet week!
