Hey Indiana!
Years ago two very close friends of mine, who were born and raised in Indianapolis, told me how fantastic it is. I remember how proud they were of the city and its people. I love my wife and daughter more than anything, so while this is a great move for my career, it had to be an even better move for my family. My wife wants a place where she can be a part of the community. And we want our daughter, who is three, to be proud of the place where she grew up. We hope and believe that place is Indianapolis.
I’ve been in this business for about 20 years. And I can truly say I’ve not been more excited (and o.k.- a bit nervous) to have this new opportunity. Also know that Trisha and I are working for you. Journalists should always be aware that we are providing a service to the community. We will do our best to deliver the quality newscasts you deserve.
Uh, one more thing. I am an original Colts fan. I was born in Baltimore and grew up seeing them play with my dad. I can’t wait for us to go to our first game!!
Your questions and comments are always welcome.

Welcome to Indy. Nice looking family! Is your wife going to be on TV too? What does your daughter like to do?
Heather, thanks for welcoming us to Indy. I worked in television eight years and enjoyed it; my last job was in Baltimore. Our daughter loves to read, play with our dog (Soteria), visit the zoo, watch Barney, Dora and the Wiggles, etc. She says some of the funniest things; I love age 3.
Hope we have our property tax mess fixed by the time you get here. Other than than, you will find we are a pretty neat place to call home.
The zoo’s a good place to go at nighttime during the Christmas season when the entire property is decked out in Christmas lights and decorations. Dress warmly, though!
Welcome to Indiana Todd! My husband is from Baltimore and we are enjoying watching the Colts (he also went to many Baltimore Colts games). You will love raising your family in Indianapolis. Good luck and we will be watching!
Todd I am really excited for you and your family ! I send with you my best wishes.
Good luck in Indy, Todd. You will be missed here in Dallas/Ft Worth.
We are really looking forward to this new chapter in our lives. We have already experienced Hoosier Hospitality!!!
Thank you very much for the kind words!!
Todd,
You have an impressive resume and a beautiful family. I’m looking forward to hearing your reporting of the news. I hope your Baltimore roots and experience in Dallas with compliment our conservative Hoosier values.
Sincerely,
Gary Conner
Hi Todd,
I’d like to join the others in welcoming you and your family to Indianapolis. My wife and I relocated here last year from Los Angeles. Indianapolis is really one of the best kept secrets in the country. I think you’ll find plenty to do here and enjoy the people (and the absence of traffic). Hopefully there will be a redesigned set to help launch you and Trisha on WRTV!
Todd!,
Welcome to the hoosier state.
I also rtv refreshes the set. Once you get settled in you should visit Holiday World. Indiana’s best kept seceret.
Carl.
Todd,
Welcome! It will be nice to see a familiar face on the news. My family and I relocated to the Indy area in December from Plano and have really enjoyed it here. I wish you luck and look forward to seeing your news casts again soon.
Amy
Welcome to Indiana! We do not live in the city of Indianapolis, but in a surrounding county. Channel 6 news is our favorite news channel that we faithfully watch each day. I hope you and your family will be able to explore all the areas outside of the city, too.
Todd,
Welcome to Indy. You will enjoy the city so much. Not only are the Colts a big attraction to our city but IUPUI has a great facility in the “nat” one of the worlds best swimming pools. I hope you get the chance to get out and see what Butler/Tarkington area has to offer you in the performing Arts. Visit our State Fair and get a real taste of Hoosier hospitality. Good luck to your family and welcome to our’s.
Marsha
Welcome Todd!! I am excited for you and Tricia’s arrival. I always choose WRTV for my news. I think this will be a great thing for the station. Come check out Plainfield and Avon for some great shopping and dining!! Again, welcome and good luck!!
Welcome to Indianapolis to you and your family. I look forward to watching you and Trisha on WRTV. I would like to invite you and your family to visit Mount Zion Baptist Church, 3500 Graceland Avenue, Indianapolis. Visit our website at http://www.mzbchurch.org.
Welcome Todd and Valerie -
Truly the best is yet to come and welcome to Indianapolis! You two have an awesome looking family! If you haven’t already found a place to worship in the Circle City, I invite you to Second Baptist Church - it a great place for families and a wonderful place to grow your relationship…www.sbcinc.org or http://www.snatchedout.com. Lots of community involvement; and a place where we celebrate each others’ success. My wife works in corporate communications and I in the non profit field so hopefully our paths will cross professionally and socially. So welcome, welcome, welcome!
Wow!!!!!
thank you for the suggestions.
My wife and I are simply overwhelmed by the positive responses we have received!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
Joe and William… we appreciate the invitation to visit your respective churches… that is so generous. We are of course looking for a church home. We believe no place will feel like home until we have a place to worship.
Kathy, my wife and I both love to shop and dine (ok, I just write the checks
Amy, it’s great to know there is someone from North Texas who will be watching. I’m also happy for you that you love the Indiana area so much.
Marsha, we will get to that state fair (in those environments I am just a big kid) We’ll also check out the Butler/Tarkington area regarding the performing Arts.
And Rhonda, tell your husband there are now at least TWO people from Baltimore who will be supporting the Colts… BIG TIME.
Again, all of you have been so gracious with your comments. We are in the middle of moving and wrapping things up. Things are a bit hectic to say the least. My responses will be a lot more prompt once we get settled. BTW, even my three year old daughter is excited about the move. She thinks we’ve been on a great search to find the perfect “princess room.” Hey, parents have to do whatever works, right?!
Welcome to the neighborhood. Once you’re settled, you should take your daughter for a walk on the Canal Towpath, which meets the Monon Trail in Broadripple, so that she can see all the turtles.
I think that the Monon Trail is the best thing to happen to Indianapolis since Coach Dungy came to coach the Colts.
Valarie, Todd, Kennedy,
Amy my wife has valued and enjoyed the friedship that you have shared with her these past few years at work. She is sad to see you go(especially now with all of the impending changes at work), but we are excited about this new venture for you, Todd, and Kennedy. The dress you gave our little girl Maeve is beautiful.
God’s timing is always right!! God bless you and best wishes from Amy, Kevin, and Maeve. Us Texans will miss “Y’all”.
Todd,
I was very pleased to read that you had previously done a story on the abuse of handicapped parking spaces. I hope you will do a similar story in Indianapolis.
I am so overjoyed at the responses and that each of you has taken time out of your busy day to post a comment. While this is an extremely busy time for us, I am so excited about moving to Indy!
Amy, Kevin and Maeve — I’ll miss you guys also but remember that I am the best at keeping in touch. Thanks for the church invitations. Our faith is what keeps us grounded and what has gotten us this far. We can’t stop praising God for His faithfulness. We are eager to find a church home! I’m on the search for a full-time 5-day preschool. Any suggestions?
You are going to love it here. Friendly folks, lots of stuff to do, a community that’s nuturing and focused on building for the future. I wish your family the best as you settle in!!!!
I welcome you to the city of Indianapolis. My wife and I moved here from the northeast almost 17 years ago. This is a city filled with promise and with good people. it is also a growing city with people moving here from all over the nation and around the globe. I think the influx of people to indiana is going to bring a lot of good to this great area. I pray your time here will be blessed and fruitful. too much news is like drinking too much coffee. you need it. But there are times you need to back away from it. I believe you and your lovely family will do well in this great city. Welcome
Hi Todd, Valarie and daughter….welcome to Indianapolis. I was born here and lived here my whole life and I hope you will all find the true mid-west values that are in this area. There will be many community activities you will be able to become involved with. Enjoy the COLTS…I sure do! Look forward to seeing you and Trisha in action on September 10. Indy is my home and I hope all of you will feel the same.
Todd and Val.
What a huge surprise to get the notice you are leaving. I have really enjoyed the friendship, although it has been way too short.Love to you both.
Robert Cluck
PS GO COWBOYS!!!
We can’t stop saying thank you enough for ALL of your warm messages welcoming us to Indy. It is an extremely busy time in the Wallace household. We will officially be leaving Texas and moving to our new hometown this weekend! Todd and Soteria, our dog, will be driving. Soteria is a smooth collie and retriever mix. We adopted her from the SPCA in Maryland when she was 6 weeks old. She is now 5 years old. Todd loves telling the story that Soteria was the first dog I ever really touched. She is really a sweetheart and fully believes everyone who comes to our home is HER guest. Kennedy has nicknamed her CC.
Thanks in advance for your prayers for traveling mercies on our family. We’ll be settled into Indy in no time. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Mayor Cluck,
Valarie and I have REALLY enjoyed living in Arlington. It’s a very family-friendly environment with lots to do. I know you are very busy (especially with the construction of the new Cowboys stadium) so thank you so much for taking the time to write.
Sincerely,
Todd
Hey Todd! I work the midday shift on 107.9 The Track. I thought I’d leave the radio station wars over on Trisha’s blog, and come over here and say welcome.
I echo Kevin Gregory on your TV spot when he says you need to get to Gray Brothers Cafeteria in Mooresville. The food and the PIE are excellent! I am known as a big Star Wars geek. So if I can help you in that respect, let me know!
I second going to Gray Brother’s Cafeteria. The Pies are the best.
Todd,
I wish you and your family all the best of luck. I’ll miss not seeing you and your family. Plus, the news here in the DFW MetroPlex won’t be the same without you. Take Care and All my Best to You and Yours.
Todd,
Welcome to Indianapolis!!! I don’t know if your family was looking for a church, but might I suggest visiting Eastern Star Church. We are one church, three locations and 5 services. Pastor Jeffrey Johnson will truly make you feel good after a sermon!
I hope you enjoy Indy’s rich art scene! From Broad Ripple to Indiana Avenue, our city is truly a diverse city with different festivals going on every year!!!
Oh, and one more thing, if you’re a big Starbucks fan, you’re in luck!! I work at the new Starbucks at 15th and Capitol-right behind the station. Stop by and say hi anytime!!! (Just ask for Renee, or as I’m known otherwise; the girl with braces)
Once again, Indianapolis welcomes you!!
Blessings!
Todd!!
I am very excited about you, Valerie & Kennedy moving to Indy!! I believe that your friend that told you so many wonderful things about Indianapolis is also one of my best friends!! Shawn & Marcus & I have been friends for years & she speaks very highly of you and your family!!
I told her to let you know that I will be more than happy to be a resource for you here in Indy. Tell Valerie that I know several hair stylists for her (I know that is very important!!!) and you can feel free to obtain my cell phone number from Shawn. I know my way around the city very well & am an Insurance Agent so I can give you contacts in pretty much any area you need from doctors, dentists, good shopping & of course good eating, etc.
That brings me to the most important part. . .Fellowship!!!
I was so pleased when Shawn told me of your impact on her life & am excited that you will be another light shining in our community. I feel you will be just what WRTV6 needs!!!
Please feel free to join my husband, Richard and I at Light of the World Christian Church, 4646 N. Michigan Road. Our services are at 9:00 a.m & Noon. Bishop Tom Benjamin is our Senior Pastor and Resident Bishop.
I look forward to meeting you & your family!!!

Hello Todd and Valerie
I am so happy that you are enjoying your new home. Tracy has kept me up to date on your move. I hope Kennedy is having a geat time decorating her new room. Tracy suggested that I send in a suggestion for your RV trip. I just did that this morning. I am one of the Chairpersons for a large saddlebred/hackney pony show at the state fairgrounds. We would love to have you if you can make it. Either way, of course, welcome to Indiana.
