Wow - it’s late. President Bush’s address tonight pushed back our programming, so we’re starting at (yawn….) 11:25 tonight. Keep in mind, in my former job in Iowa, I’d be waking up at 2:30am and going to bed with the sunset… so I’m still adjusting to the night owl hours!
Any suggestions are welcome - but I’m trying to avoid overdoing the caffeine in the evenings, since I need to get to sleep at a reasonable hour!
I just hope at least few of you Hoosiers are staying up with us tonight - we have some really interesting stories to tell (and some even more interesting ones we’ve traded amongst ourselves that won’t make air!)
Sweet dreams -and keep watching!

PS - I have added some new family photos to my “photo album” on this site. They were taken by a friend in Des Moines who photographs my husband’s band. She really captured something magical.
Children are so humbling.
Tonight between newscasts I stopped home to tuck the kids into bed.
Calvin (almost 5) stared into my eyes and told me - “Mommy, your eyes look funny. Why do you have too much nakeup?”
At least he likes my natural look.
I just hope by the time he’s a teenager I’m able to teach him a little something about talking to girls.

Happy Monday, everyone.
I can’t tell you how glad I am that today is here - the day that Todd and I officially begin our duties on the anchor desk at RTV6.
I also can’t tell you how hard it is to force a smile the millionth time someone asks, “So, are you nervous?”
Of course there is pressure to do well on our very first shows. Of course I want things to go beautifully and flawlessly. And of course, it is live TV, so there will undoubtedly be a few hiccups and things we wish we could re-do. But Todd and I have gotten to know each other pretty well after our whirlwind RV tour of Indiana, and there’s one thing I know: We are ready to get started, and whatever happens on Day One, it won’t be boring!
Confession: Those of you who are parents will understand this - I am actually more nervous about my kids adjusting to the new schedule and routine than I am about how I do on the job! It’s a control thing. I can control what I do at work. I can’t control how the little ones do when I’m not home (and sometimes when I am home for that matter!) Goodness knows it’s not easy to surrender that control - but I know Cal and Clara are in great hands, and I plan to kiss their sleepy little heads goodnight later on.
Thanks for all your support and welcoming thoughts! I truly look forward to getting to know you all through the airwaves and blogosphere throughout the coming months and years!!
